Jeffery S. Martin, M.D.
Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery
A native of Cumming, Ga., Jeffery S. Martin, M.D.,
graduated magna cum laude from the University of
Georgia in Athens, GA, in 1991 with a bachelor of
science in biology.
Dr. Martin earned his doctor of medicine at the Medical College
of Georgia in Augusta, GA, and he then completed his internship
and residency in general surgery at the Brigham and Women’s
Hospital in Boston. He served as a research fellow in cardiac surgery
at Harvard Medical School from 1997 to 1999, and served as a clinical
fellow in cardiac surgery at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital
in 2004.
Dr. Martin completed a three-year residency in thoracic surgery
at Duke University Medical Center before joining Carolina Cardiac
Surgery Associates in 2005.
His clinical interests are advanced thoracoscopic surgery and minimally
invasive valve surgery. He performed the first all-thorascopic lobectomy
for cancer in
Columbia, SC.
Dr. Martin is a member of the Sabiston Surgical Society, the
Society of Brigham Surgical Alumni and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. He has authored articles for
the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery
and the Annals of Thoracic Surgery. He also leads a multidisciplinary,
monthly conference focused on treating patients with
lung cancer.
Dr. Martin enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.
His hobbies include waterskiing on Lake Murray, as well as camping,
hiking, hunting and snow skiing.
